Kelly’s Sealcoating Magazine Article

Kelly’s Sealcoating LLC, owned by _ local couple Anthony Kelly and Jocelyn Kelly , is relatively new to the sealcoating market but quickly becoming synonymous with quality, dedication, and customer satisfaction. The business is a testament to Anthony’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence. Inspiration struck when he saw his neighbor’s driveway getting Sealcoated. “I walked over to talk to the guy doing the work and made my whole business plan right there,” he said.

With a background in truck driving and an education in building trades, including graduating from Interboro High School and Delaware County Technical School at Folcroft, Anthony saw an opportunity to leverage his skills and create something of his own. “I always wanted to have my own business,” he said. “I got to make my own decisions and set my own goals.”

Kelly’s Sealcoating offers a variety of services, including driveway and parking lot sealcoating, crack filling, and asphalt maintenance. According to Anthony, what sets them apart is their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction. “We hand brush everything,” he proudly stated. “We don’t spray unless someone wants that.
That’s pretty unique.” The business caters to a wide range of clients, from residential homeowners to commercial properties. Anthony takes pride in building relationships with his clients.

“I like meeting people and interacting with them. I’m becoming friends with my customers,” he said.

Education is also a key component of Kelly’s Sealcoating service. “We walk over the driveway with customers, telling them how sealcoating will prolong the driveway’s life. We go over the cracks, if any, and explain how we could fix them and prevent water from going underneath and freezing in the winter, which can make a driveway worse,” Anthony said. This approach helps customers understand the value of sealcoating and empowers them to make informed decisions about their property maintenance. “If you look at your driveway and you see cracks or discoloration, those are places where the driveway will fall apart a year or two later. If you seal those cracks now it will take longer for the driveway to deteriorate,” he explained.

While still a young business, Anthony has big plans for the future of Kelly’s Sealcoating, including furthering his involvement in helping those in need in his community. He has a vision for growth and a dedication to his craft. “I’m grateful for where I came from, and looking at where I am now versus where I was five years ago, it’s pretty awesome,” he said.

Behind every successful entrepreneur is a strong support system, and for Anthony, that comes from his family and his Wife , Jocelyn, who works as a pediatric intensive care nurse at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware. Her support and partnership have been instrumental in the success of Kelly’s Sealcoating. Family is everything to Anthony. He finds support in his mom who has always encouraged him and bought Anthony his first sealcoating rig, his father who both encourages and works with him, and his cousins, the Mcdaid family, who were a big influence in helping Anthony build his business.

Anthony’s roots run deep in the local community. “It’s cool to work where I grew up,” he said. At the heart of his entrepreneurial spirit lies a personal inspiration – his late grandfather, Bill Kelly, who owned Kelly’s Columns, a company that specialized in steering columns. “He was a big influence on me starting my own business,” Anthony said. “He always said I could do anything I put my mind to.” He takes great pride in the example and legacy of his grandfather and the continued encouragement of his grandmother, Nancy.

The philosophy that drives Anthony is simple: “Go big or go home.” As his company continues to grow, honoring his grandfather’s entrepreneurial spirit, he hopes to serve the community through his company and actions.
